Kahne set for full-time NASCAR Truck Series return in 2027
Fox Sports reports Kasey Kahne will drive Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 in a one-year deal, while continuing to race sprint cars.

Kasey Kahne is set to return to full-time NASCAR competition in 2027, driving the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports in the Truck Series, according to Fox Sports. The reported agreement is for one year.
His last full-time NASCAR season was in 2018, when the physical demands of weekly Cup racing led him to leave the series. Since then, he has competed in sprint-car racing. He last raced a truck in 2015.
Fox Sports reported that Spire co-owner Jeff Dickerson approached Kahne at the Knoxville Nationals sprint-car event in August about a full-time ride. Kahne said he was excited by the opportunity and wanted to be competitive while enjoying the return.
Kahne plans to continue racing sprint cars alongside the truck schedule, Fox Sports reported. He expects to compete in about as many sprint-car races as truck races, but no confirmed race count was given.
Kahne has 18 Cup wins over 15 years in the series, according to Fox Sports. He said he is focused on 2027, and described the deal as a one-year commitment.
