NASA Sets Coverage for Astronaut Chris Williams, Crewmates Return
Soyuz MS-28 undocking and landing scheduled for Sunday morning

NASA has confirmed its live coverage schedule for the return of three International Space Station crew members to Earth. The Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft, carrying NASA astronaut Chris Williams and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev, is scheduled to undock from the Rassvet module at 3:02 a.m. EDT on Sunday, July 26. The crew will conclude their 241-day mission with a parachute-assisted landing on the steppe of Kazakhstan, southeast of Dzhezkazgan, at 6:26 a.m. EDT.

The return journey will see the crew complete 3,856 orbits, travelling more than 102 million miles. This flight marks the first space mission for Williams and Mikaev, while Kud-Sverchkov is on his second expedition. Following the landing, the crew will be transported by helicopter to Karaganda, Kazakhstan, where recovery teams are based. Williams will then return to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, while the cosmonauts will head back to their training base in Star City, Russia.

NASA’s live coverage will begin earlier in the day with the Expedition 74/75 change of command ceremony at 9:40 a.m. EDT. During this event, Kud-Sverchkov will transfer command of the orbital complex to NASA astronaut Jessica Meir, marking the official start of Expedition 75. Coverage of crew farewells and the closing of the hatch is scheduled for 11:10 p.m. EDT, with undocking coverage commencing at 2:30 a.m. EDT.

Live streaming of the deorbit and landing phases will begin at 5:15 a.m. EDT. The broadcast will cover the critical final moments of the descent across various platforms. All times are Eastern and remain subject to change based on real-time operational requirements. The International Space Station has served as a continuous human presence in orbit for more than 25 years, advancing scientific knowledge and supporting NASA’s long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars.
