NASA begins processing awards for $20 billion SEWP VI procurement contracts
The US space agency is initiating the administrative process for multiple contracts under the Solutions for Enterprise-wide Procurement (SEWP) VI, covering a decade of federal IT needs with a ceiling value of $20 billion per contract.
NASA has announced it will begin processing awards for multiple contracts under the Solutions for Enterprise-wide Procurement (SEWP) VI Government-wide Acquisition Contract. The agency confirmed that the competitive acquisition process has concluded, and the administrative steps to finalise the awards are now underway. This move establishes a framework for federal agencies to access a broad range of commercial products and services through a streamlined procurement channel.
The SEWP VI contract is designed to provide efficient access to critical technology resources, including hardware, software, cloud services, and cybersecurity tools. It also encompasses engineering and consulting services, as well as data-intensive mission support capabilities. The procurement was structured into three distinct categories: Category A for IT Solutions, Category B for Enterprise-wide IT Service Solutions, and Category C for IT Mission-Based Services.
All awards under SEWP VI are classified as indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts. This structure allows for flexibility in how agencies procure services, supporting various pricing models such as firm-fixed-price, labor-hour, and time-and-materials arrangements. The contracts are set to operate over a 10-year effective ordering period, commencing on 1 November and concluding on 31 October 2036.
Each individual contract carries a maximum value of $20 billion. This figure represents the ceiling for potential obligations under each contract rather than a guaranteed total spend. NASA noted that a full list of the SEWP VI awardees and further program details are available through official channels, although the specific identities of the contractors were not included in the initial announcement.
The SEWP VI initiative underscores NASA’s role in managing large-scale government-wide acquisition contracts that support both routine enterprise needs and specialised mission requirements. By consolidating these procurement avenues, the agency aims to reduce administrative burdens for federal buyers while ensuring access to up-to-date commercial technologies.
