Napoli reports McTominay’s heart procedure was a complete success
The Scotland midfielder is expected to rest for two weeks before resuming training, but his return to competitive football remains unconfirmed.
Napoli has reported that Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay’s ablation procedure to correct a mild, benign arrhythmia was a complete success.
The minimally invasive procedure took place at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday morning. Napoli said McTominay would rest for two weeks before resuming training this month.
McTominay’s last appearance came on 30 August, when he was substituted after 56 minutes of Napoli’s 2-1 Serie A defeat by Como. The reported arrhythmia was discovered before the corrective treatment.
Napoli had previously expected the former Manchester United player to return after the international break in early October. However, the club has not provided a precise date for his return to competitive matches.
Scotland are scheduled to face Slovenia home and away, as well as North Macedonia and Switzerland, in fixtures across late September and early October. His availability for those matches remains unclear.
