Arsenal striker named in final 26-man roster amid fitness concerns

Germany have officially confirmed their final 26-player squad for the 2026 World Cup, with Arsenal striker Kai Havertz securing a place in the roster. Manager Julian Nagelsmann used the announcement to issue a direct message of support to the forward, emphasising the importance of his fitness for the upcoming summer tournament.

Nagelsmann praised Havertz’s recent performances, describing him as “outstanding” and “incredibly important” to the national team’s attacking options. “Stay healthy, clear your mind and go for it. You have everything we need to have a top goalscorer up front,” the manager stated, acknowledging the striker’s capacity to influence matches at the highest level.

The selection comes despite Havertz having struggled with injuries throughout the current season. When fit, the 26-year-old has delivered decisive contributions for Arsenal, including a late equaliser in the Champions League last-16 against Bayer Leverkusen and the sole goal in the quarter-final victory over Sporting CP.

His impact extended to domestic competitions as well, with a late winner against Chelsea securing Arsenal’s place in the League Cup final. Additionally, a recent goal against Burnley proved pivotal in the Premier League title race, contributing to the club’s championship success after Manchester City dropped points the following day.

Havertz becomes the sixth Arsenal player selected for the World Cup, with five other nations yet to announce their final squads. The forward still has a couple of games remaining with Arsenal before the international break, marking a significant moment for both the club and the national team ahead of the global tournament.
