Moyes says he has never spoken directly to Everton owner Friedkin
Everton’s manager says chief executive Angus Kinnear is his main contact as scrutiny grows over the club’s ownership structure and transfer decisions.
Everton manager David Moyes says he has never met or spoken directly with owner Dan Friedkin since returning to the club in January 2025.
Speaking before Everton’s match against Manchester United, Moyes said his main contact was chief executive Angus Kinnear, with Rishi Majithia acting as an intermediary to the Friedkin family.
The comments come after scrutiny of how Everton is run and who is responsible for key decisions. The Friedkin Group completed its takeover of the club in December 2024 and also owns Serie A side AS Roma.
Everton faced criticism during the transfer window after accepting a £40 million bid for England Under-19s midfielder Harrison Armstrong before withdrawing from the deal. Beto was later sold to Fiorentina without a replacement striker secured after Folarin Balogun’s proposed move from Monaco collapsed.
BBC Sport reported that Everton finished the window with 18 senior players, including one striker, one right-back and one left-back. Moyes acknowledged that the club’s internal structure needed to improve, but said he remained committed to Everton and had not considered leaving.
