The University of Missouri women’s tennis team has finalised the signing of Romanian freshman Alexandra-Irina Anghel for the 2026-27 season. The 19-year-old arrives with established professional credentials, holding a career-high Women’s Tennis Association doubles ranking of No. 530. This recruitment reinforces the Tigers’ strategy of blending veteran leadership with emerging international talent under head coach Robin Goodman.
Anghel’s arrival provides an immediate structural boost to the roster, as her doubles ranking is the highest among any player currently on the team. She also holds a singles ranking of No. 1,101 and possesses a Universal Tennis Rating of 9.75. Her professional background includes four International Tennis Federation junior titles, offering a level of maturity that Goodman believes will allow her to compete for a prominent role in the Southeastern Conference from day one.
The commitment was secured late in the recruiting cycle, following a period where Anghel weighed the option of continuing on the professional circuit against commencing her collegiate career.
