Missouri freshman offensive lineman DJ Jones has been placed on the heart transplant list and remains hospitalised in Jacksonville, Florida, coach Eli Drinkwitz said, according to CBS Sports.

Drinkwitz said Jones was added to the list last week. Team medical staff identified a heart problem during routine freshman intake; after it did not improve over two weeks, Jones was sent to the Mayo Clinic, where further evaluation found a more significant issue.

The report does not specify Jones’s condition, prognosis or the timing of a possible transplant. Jones has not played for Missouri this season.

Jones is a member of Missouri’s 2026 recruiting class. Drinkwitz said the team and Jones’s family were facing difficult news.
