Microsoft sets 7 October Windows and Surface event focused on local AI
Microsoft says the San Francisco event will cover Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem, with three senior executives expected to speak.
Microsoft will hold a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on 7 October, with local artificial intelligence and the future of personal computing at the centre of its agenda.
The event will cover Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem, according to Microsoft. Engadget reported that Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella, NVIDIA chief executive Jensen Huang and Windows and Surface executive vice-president Pavan Davuluri are expected to attend.
Microsoft says the executives will share its latest innovations across the four areas. The company has framed the event around how local AI could shape the next chapter of the PC, including the use of AI agents to handle more routine computer work.
The timing follows NVIDIA’s announcement of RTX Spark, its first system-on-a-chip for Windows. Microsoft has also shown Project Solara devices and announced a Surface Laptop Ultra in June, although it has not provided availability details for that laptop.
The Surface Laptop Ultra’s possible role at the October event remains unconfirmed. Pricing and release details for RTX Spark devices have also not been provided, including for products announced by other laptop manufacturers.
