Meta Horizon+ subscribers gain access to Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition
The updated subscription tier includes over 50 titles, 10 hours of monthly cloud gaming, and cross-device save support, marking a shift from previous restrictions that limited streaming to Ultimate subscribers.
Meta has expanded its Horizon+ subscription service to include the Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition at no additional cost for existing subscribers. The integration allows users to access a library of more than 50 video games, including notable titles such as Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Grounded, Overcooked 2, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, and SnowRunner. This move broadens the content available to Meta Quest users without requiring a separate premium subscription tier.
Subscribers are allocated 10 hours of monthly cloud gaming access, which can be utilised to play these titles directly on Meta Quest headsets. Beyond cloud streaming, the service permits users to download games from the library to their PC or Xbox consoles, allowing for unlimited play on those platforms. This flexibility supports a hybrid gaming environment where users can transition between virtual reality and traditional computing setups.
To facilitate this cross-platform functionality, Meta Quest Touch controllers will soon receive a software update to emulate an Xbox gamepad. This enhancement aims to streamline the user experience for those playing on the headset. Additionally, users can connect a traditional controller to their headset for gameplay, and an Xbox-themed immersive space is available within the virtual environment.
The package supports cloud saves, enabling users to continue their progress seamlessly across PC, Xbox consoles, and other devices. Online multiplayer support is available for both cloud and PC versions of the games. Users can also stream certain games they already own through the service and earn rewards for playing Game Pass titles on a Quest headset.
Previously, the ability to stream Xbox games using a Meta Quest headset was restricted to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. This update effectively lowers the barrier to entry for Meta Horizon+ holders. The development follows a recent partnership between Xbox and Discord, which offered Nitro subscribers a similar Game Pass starter pack.
