Met investigates alleged overseas donations to Reform UK
The Metropolitan Police has opened an investigation after Channel 4 broadcast allegations involving Reform UK and a purported foreign donor.
The Metropolitan Police is investigating potential electoral offences involving alleged overseas donations to Reform UK, following allegations broadcast by Channel 4 on 3 September.
The allegations arose from an undercover operation by Verbatim reporters, who posed as a foreign donor seeking to fund the party. Footage broadcast by Channel 4 appeared to show Reform UK advisers Dan Jukes and James Orr discussing ways to circumvent electoral law. Both advisers later resigned.
The Met said it received reports after the broadcast and had identified potential offences requiring investigation. The allegations will be incorporated into an existing special enquiry team investigation concerning donations to Reform UK.
Detectives are seeking relevant broadcast footage and are liaising with the Electoral Commission and the Crown Prosecution Service as the inquiry progresses.
