Mead Industries files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid disputed claims
The Nebraska ammunition manufacturer listed more than US$7.1 million in assets and US$6.4 million in debts in its 2 September petition.

Mead Industries Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska, seeking to reorganise while facing disputed lawsuit and contract claims.
The Wood River-based ammunition manufacturer listed more than US$7.1 million in assets and more than US$6.4 million in debts, according to the petition reported by TheStreet and Yahoo Finance.
Kentucky’s Best Hemp Inc. was listed as the company’s largest creditor, with a disputed claim exceeding US$1.85 million. Other creditors named in the petition include Hiawatha National Bank, FNBO, Gunwerks LLC, company owner Gregory A. Mead and AMDG Enterprises.
Mead Industries reported gross revenue of more than US$2.4 million in 2024, falling to more than US$1.3 million in 2025. The petition said the company had generated more than US$1.1 million by the 2 September filing date.
Founded by Greg Mead in 1977, the company makes precision hunting bullets, machinery, equipment and components. It operates a 15,000-square-foot facility in Wood River that includes a ballistics laboratory and machine and welding shops.
The filing comes as firearms sales and other industry bankruptcies have increased in 2026. The supplied material does not indicate that Mead Industries is ceasing operations, and the details and outcome of the disputed claims were not provided.
