McLaren unveils ‘H-Wing’ and new livery ahead of Italian Grand Prix
The team’s new rear wing development incorporates sponsor branding, while a fresh OKX collaboration marks the team’s arrival at Monza following consecutive victories.

McLaren Racing has introduced a new rear wing designated the ‘H-Wing’ and an enhanced livery for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The aerodynamic update represents a development of the ‘Macarena’ concept, which was initially tested in Austria before achieving full validation during practice sessions in Hungary.
The naming convention mirrors the strategy previously employed for the ‘F-Duct’, utilising the ‘H’ from sponsor Etihad Airways to enhance commercial branding on the rear wing. Technical Director Neil Houldey noted that the team is not taking its recent form for granted, acknowledging that Monza’s long straights and heavy braking zones present distinct aerodynamic demands compared to the circuits in Hungary and the Netherlands.
The team arrives at the race following back-to-back victories in Hungary and the Netherlands, with Lando Norris contributing to the recent success. Houldey stated that while the car has been quick in recent rounds, the unique characteristics of Monza could result in a different pecking order.
In addition to the aerodynamic updates, McLaren will deploy a new livery in partnership with OKX. This follows previous collaborations, including the ‘Stealth Mode’ design at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix and the ‘SENNA’ livery at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix.
The ‘H-Wing’ is described as a minor aerodynamic update added to the team’s existing package, rather than a major overhaul. Houldey emphasised the need to execute every detail, from set-up to energy management, to ensure the drivers can perform at their absolute best.
The team will also use the enhanced livery for the Spanish Grand Prix, continuing its pattern of special designs for select races throughout the season.
