Kyler Murray unlikely to face Bears as concussion protocol continues

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray is considered unlikely to play against the Chicago Bears in Week 2 after entering the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Adam Schefter reported that the early indications for Murray’s availability are not positive. Murray has not been ruled out, however, and his status remains subject to further concussion-protocol assessments.

Murray sustained the concussion during the first quarter of Minnesota’s season-opening game against the Green Bay Packers. He was assessed after contact involving Packers safety Javon Bullard and was later ruled out.

The Vikings were reportedly unhappy with the hit, according to Schefter. The source package does not include an official medical update from the Vikings or the NFL.

Carson Wentz replaced Murray against Green Bay, completing 12 of 19 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns. He would start for Minnesota if Murray is unavailable.
