McDonald’s India deleted a series of posts from its verified X account that allegedly claimed an unpaid intern was owed more than ₹60,000 before the account promoted a meme coin and shared cryptocurrency wallet addresses.

According to a Yahoo Finance report citing BeInCrypto, the deleted posts were written in the first person and reportedly named a manager, Amit Joshi. They gave conflicting references to when payment was last received, citing December 2025 in one post and May in another. The claims, including the identity of the named manager and the alleged debt, have not been independently verified.

The posts reportedly also said losses from meme-coin trading had left the writer without enough money for food. Later messages promoted a token and shared wallet addresses, before indicating that fees had been claimed from the token.

McDonald’s India removed the posts and responded with a meme of a dog holding a phone, writing on its official X account: “McD admin right now: If only our actual posts went this viral…” The company has not confirmed whether the account was hacked, compromised or used by an authorised user, and there is no evidence in the source material that McDonald’s officially endorsed the token.

The episode came as McDonald’s shares closed on Friday at US$255.69, their weakest level in a year, after a 3.5% weekly decline. TipRanks data cited in the report showed 14 buys, 10 holds and no sells among 24 analysts covering the stock.

The average 12-month analyst target was US$317.18, about 24% above Friday’s close, with estimates ranging from US$280 to US$390. McDonald’s reported second-quarter diluted earnings of US$3.32 per share and global comparable-sales growth of 1.3%.
