Vote for the playoff softball player to watch in Manitowoc/Sheboygan
Public voting opens for sixteen athletes ahead of Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association playoffs

Sixteen softball players from the Manitowoc and Sheboygan areas have been nominated for the 'player to watch' designation during the upcoming Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) postseason playoffs. The nominations, compiled by the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, highlight regional talent ahead of the first round of competition scheduled for May 21 and May 26.

The list, published via Yahoo Sports, features athletes from various local teams including the Flying Dutchmen, Rams, Panthers, Huskies, Resorters, Raiders, and Ships. The nominations are presented in alphabetical order and include detailed statistical breakdowns for each candidate, covering metrics such as batting averages, runs batted in, home runs, and pitching statistics where applicable.

Among the nominated athletes, several have posted notable offensive figures. For instance, one player from Boness holds a team-high .566 batting average with 29 runs scored, while another from Plymouth leads her team with a .481 average and 29 runs batted in. Pitching performances are also highlighted, with one nominee from Valders recording 189 strikeouts over 126 2/3 innings at a 1.382 earned run average.

The 'player to watch' designation is a media-selected honour rather than an official WIAA award. The Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, through journalist Tom Dombeck, has invited the public to vote for their preferred candidate. Voting is open to all members of the public and does not require a subscription to the newspaper.

Public voting for the nomination will remain open until noon on May 28. The WIAA, which organises high school athletic competitions in Wisconsin, oversees the playoffs where these athletes will compete. The statistical data provided for the nominees is based on reporting by the Herald Times Reporter and serves as a reference for the public vote.
