Lynx Overcome Halftime Deficit to Edge Wings in Arlington
The Lynx improve to 2-1 with a comeback win over Dallas, despite a third-quarter injury to rookie Emma Cechova.

The Minnesota Lynx secured a 90-86 victory over the Dallas Wings in Arlington, Texas, on Thursday night, improving their season record to 2-1 while the Wings fell to 1-2. The win followed a significant comeback, as Minnesota overcame a 48-40 halftime deficit and a 12-point second-quarter deficit to claim the narrow margin of victory.
Natasha Howard led the Lynx with 26 points, including the decisive tiebreaking basket with 51 seconds remaining. Howard scored an uncontested layup on a pick-and-roll play involving rookie Olivia Miles, who contributed 15 points and six assists. The basket brought the score to 87-85, setting the stage for the final sequence of the game.
Courtney Williams provided crucial support with 21 points, shooting 9 of 10 from the field. The Lynx as a team shot 60 per cent from the floor. Kayla McBride secured the win by making three of four free throws in the final 17.1 seconds, finishing with 11 points and eight rebounds. Nia Coffey added 13 points and matched McBride on the boards.
Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 27 points and eight assists, shooting 10 of 11 from the free-throw line. Maddy Siegrist scored 17 points in the first half, while Odyssey Sims added 11 points, including a running three-pointer at the end of the third quarter. Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 overall draft pick, scored eight points off the bench in her second WNBA game.
The contest was marked by a significant injury to Lynx rookie Emma Cechova, who suffered a non-contact knee injury at 2:31 of the third quarter and did not return. Minnesota had not led since the opening minutes until McBride’s free throws midway through the third quarter gave them a 55-54 advantage.
The Lynx are scheduled to play the Chicago Sky at home on Sunday. The Wings will play their first road game of the season against the Washington Mystics on Monday.
