Liverpool target Diomande as Iraola reshapes attack
Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms the club is offering significant financial incentives to secure the Red Bull Leipzig star, who is also sought by Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool are aggressively pursuing Red Bull Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming the club views the 19-year-old as a top priority. Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano stated that Liverpool are "really pushing" and "insisting" to secure the Ivory Coast international, offering "important money" to the player to finalise the deal.
The potential acquisition is being framed as a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah, who the source material indicates has left the club. Romano noted that Liverpool have "already made space" with Salah’s departure, contrasting the situation with Paris Saint-Germain, where interest in Diomande is contingent on other players such as Barcola, Goncalo Ramos, and Kang-in Lee leaving the squad.
Diomande established himself as a consistent performer for Leipzig last season, recording 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. Primarily operating on the left flank but capable of playing on the right, the teenager was described as one of the most feared wide players in the Bundesliga, noted for his pace, shooting power, and ability to create chances in the final third.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is reportedly keen to add Diomande’s pace and firepower to his attack, with assessments suggesting the winger is capable of fighting for a regular first-team spot at Anfield. However, the move presents a significant financial challenge, as Diomande’s contract with Leipzig runs until the summer of 2030, a tenure that could prevent Liverpool from securing his services on favourable terms later in the year.
While Diomande’s statistics and versatility make him an attractive prospect for Iraola’s system, questions remain regarding his ability to transition smoothly to the Premier League. With PSG also in the mix, Liverpool must act decisively to secure the winger before the window closes, balancing the need for immediate impact against the long-term value of a player under contract until 2030.
