Lionsgate unveils Haymitch-focused Hunger Games prequel trailer
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to open in cinemas on 20 November, alongside a new trailer for Laika’s Wildwood.

Lionsgate has released an action trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, a prequel centred on a young Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games.
Set 24 years before The Hunger Games, the film follows Haymitch into the arena for the Second Quarter Quell, when each district is required to send twice as many tributes. The trailer introduces his alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner and a wider challenge to the Capitol’s control.
Joseph Zada plays the younger Haymitch, who later becomes the District 12 mentor to Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. The film follows 2023’s The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and is scheduled to open in cinemas on 20 November.
Ars Technica reported that the cast includes Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, alongside Ben Wang, Molly McCann, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin and Elle Fanning. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are expected to reprise their roles in what may be a flash-forward cameo.
Laika Studios has also released a full trailer for Wildwood, a stop-motion feature scheduled to open on 23 October. It follows Prue McKee and her schoolmate Curtis Mehlberg into a magical wilderness after Prue’s baby brother is carried away by crows.
Peyton Elizabeth Lee voices Prue, Jacob Tremblay voices Curtis and Carey Mulligan voices Alexandra, a woman the pair encounters in the wilderness.
