Leinart labels LSU coach Lane Kiffin college football’s most polarising figure
The FOX Sports analyst made the assessment before Kiffin’s first game against former team Ole Miss since taking charge at LSU.
FOX Sports analyst Matt Leinart has described LSU head coach Lane Kiffin as “the most polarising coach” in college football history, saying he embraces trolling and the villain role.
Leinart made the assessment on FOX Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff before LSU’s visit to Ole Miss, Kiffin’s first game against the Rebels since leaving the programme for the Tigers’ head-coaching position.
The matchup brought together two unbeaten teams, with LSU ranked No. 7 and Ole Miss No. 8. LSU reportedly entered at 2–0 after victories over Clemson and Louisiana Tech, while Ole Miss had defeated Louisville and Charlotte.
Kiffin also attempted to bring former Ole Miss players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris to LSU. FOX Sports reported that an SEC eligibility ruling prevented the players, who had appeared on professional rosters, from joining the conference team.
Ole Miss reportedly went 55–19 during Kiffin’s tenure. FOX Sports also gave him a 118–53 record as a collegiate head coach across spells at Tennessee, USC, FAU and Ole Miss, as well as a period as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
