Lebanese authorities report nearly 9,000 deaths in Israeli attacks

Lebanese health authorities say Israeli attacks killed 8,920 people and injured 30,595 in Lebanon between October 2023 and September 2026. The figures, released by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, have not been independently verified in the supplied material.

Since 2 March, the ministry recorded 4,358 deaths and 12,359 injuries. It also reported 179 attacks on ambulance crews during the period, in which 135 healthcare workers were killed.

The United Nations refugee agency UNHCR estimated that about 360,000 people remained displaced in August, including at least 22,000 living in collective shelters.

The latest figures come amid continuing attacks in southern Lebanon. An Israeli air strike on Kfar Reman reportedly killed three people and injured 23, while Israel said it had targeted Hezbollah tunnels beneath the Ali al-Taher bridge. Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported raids and artillery fire in seven towns in the Tyre and Nabatieh districts, without reported casualties.

Israeli warplanes also reportedly bombed Zawtar al-Sharqiyah early on Sunday. The escalation follows two US-brokered agreements signed in June, including a framework linked to Hezbollah’s disarmament that Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected.
