Lawson to remain alongside Verstappen as Hadjar misses Madrid race

Red Bull has confirmed that Isack Hadjar will miss the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid as he continues recovering from a fractured wrist.

Liam Lawson will replace Hadjar alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull for a third consecutive race. Yuki Tsunoda will remain with Racing Bulls.

According to Sky Sports, Hadjar suffered a hairline fracture during a boxing workout over the summer break, forcing him to miss the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix as well as the Madrid race.

Red Bull said Hadjar’s recovery was progressing positively, but that he was not yet ready to return to the cockpit. He is expected to attend the event in a team-support role.

Lawson finished seventh at Zandvoort but was eliminated in Q2 at Monza and finished 14th after starting from the pit lane and changing his front wing.

Tsunoda finished 10th at Monza to score a point. His result may face an appeal from Audi over an incident during a standing restart, although that appeal has not been confirmed.
