Late Cunha equaliser earns Manchester United draw at Fulham

Manchester United rescued a 1–1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, but the result extended a difficult run for manager Michael Carrick.

Fulham took the lead after Senne Lammens saved Calvin Bassey’s shot and Martinez inadvertently diverted the rebound into his own net. United responded late, with Cunha’s long-range effort in the 89th minute deflecting off David Affengruber.

According to Al Jazeera, the draw leaves United with one win in their past five Premier League matches. The club entered the match after defeats against Manchester City and Brighton, and the report said United were 10 points behind league leaders City.

The result came after United surrendered a 2–0 lead against Brighton in the League Cup third round, following their defeat to City in the previous weekend’s derby. Carrick was appointed permanently after a successful interim spell and had been expected to challenge for at least a top-three finish.

United are scheduled to return from the international break with a home match against Tottenham on 10 October. Carrick is now facing intensified scrutiny as the club seeks to reverse its early-season decline.
