Lakers’ Missouri draft history centres on Henke and Peeler
The Los Angeles Lakers have selected two University of Missouri players, with contrasting outcomes for Charles Henke and Anthony Peeler.
The Los Angeles Lakers have drafted two University of Missouri men’s basketball players: Charles Henke in 1961 and Anthony Peeler with the 15th pick in 1992, according to Yahoo Sports.
Henke, a forward, was selected in the fourth round after averaging 18.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game during three seasons at Missouri. He did not play in the NBA.
Peeler, a guard, spent four seasons at Missouri, averaging 16.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. The Lakers selected him 15th overall in 1992.
Peeler spent four seasons with the Lakers, averaging 10.6 points in 22.7 minutes per game. He later completed 13 NBA seasons, with career averages of 9.7 points in 24.7 minutes per game.
Yahoo Sports also reports that Missouri has reached the NCAA Tournament 31 times and the Elite Eight five times. Jordan Clarkson also played for Missouri before spending his first three and a half NBA seasons with the Lakers, although he was drafted by Washington in 2014.
