LAFC ended a six-game MLS winless run with a 2-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, closing out a match in which New York managed eight shots and one on target.
Jude Terry opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing from the edge of the area after Son Heung-Min’s shot was saved. The 17-year-old’s goal was his first at BMO Stadium and his second of the season.
The result followed three consecutive league draws for LAFC, including a 2-2 draw with Real Salt Lake in which the team surrendered a lead. The source described the shutout as LAFC’s 13th of the season, a new club record.
Manager Marc Dos Santos said LAFC defended the area in front of goal effectively, limiting New York’s opportunities to combine through the middle. He also acknowledged that his side defended deeper than intended late in the match, citing a lingering “fear of losing” after recent results.
LAFC had opportunities to extend its lead before half-time, with Son recording eight shots, matching his MLS career high. The second goal arrived in stoppage time, with Armindo Sieb involved in the scoring after making his home debut for the club.
