Kyler Murray’s Vikings debut ends with concussion
Minnesota quarterback Kyler Murray was ruled out after a first-quarter hit against Green Bay, with Carson Wentz taking over.
Kyler Murray’s first game for the Minnesota Vikings ended early on Sunday after the quarterback suffered a concussion against the Green Bay Packers.
Murray was briefly motionless after a 1-yard scramble following contact from Packers safety Javon Bullard. His helmet was also pulled off by defensive end Lukas Van Ness as Vikings players called for medical assistance.
After several minutes, Murray got up and walked to the Vikings’ locker room. The Vikings announced he was being evaluated for a concussion before he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Carson Wentz replaced Murray and, later in the game, led Minnesota to its first points with a 38-yard field goal. Wentz had been named the Vikings’ No. 2 quarterback the previous week.
Murray joined Minnesota on a one-year contract in March after seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. J.J. McCarthy was listed as the emergency No. 3 quarterback and could play only if both Murray and Wentz were unavailable.
