Brunson was instrumental in the Knicks’ comeback, scoring 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter. His performance included eight straight points, featuring a driving hoop with six minutes and eight seconds remaining that gave New York a 94-86 advantage. The Knicks closed the game with 11 straight points, committing no turnovers in the final period while San Antonio turned the ball over five times and shot just 28.6 percent from the field.

Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 18 points and 12 rebounds for New York, while OG Anunoby added 17 points, with 12 coming in the decisive fourth quarter. Mitchell Robinson played 13 minutes despite suffering a broken right pinkie, recording two points and six rebounds. Landry Shamet provided 13 points off the bench, and Josh Hart contributed 15 rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots but struggled with efficiency, shooting just 6 of 21 from the field. Stephon Castle had 17 points and eight rebounds, Julian Champagnie added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Dylan Harper scored 16 points off the bench. The Spurs led by seven at halftime and extended their advantage to 14 points early in the third quarter before New York’s rally.

Game Two of the series is scheduled for Friday night in San Antonio. The Knicks, who have not played in an NBA Finals since 1999, improved their season shooting to 41.5 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from three-point range. The Spurs finished with 36 percent field-goal accuracy and 25.6 percent from beyond the arc.
