Knicks guard Jalen Brunson warns against complacency ahead of Game 3
Jalen Brunson insists the team must maintain a '0-0' mindset despite securing a 105-104 victory in Game 2, as the NBA Finals return to Madison Square Garden on Monday.

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has urged his teammates to reject any sense of comfort despite holding a 2-0 series lead in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Following a 105-104 victory in Game 2, Brunson emphasised that the team must maintain a "0-0" mindset, disregarding the current standing as they prepare to return to New York for Game 3.
The Knicks secured the series advantage on Friday night in San Antonio, overcoming a late deficit where they trailed 104-102 with 57 seconds remaining. Brunson scored the final five points of the game, including the tying and go-ahead baskets, to prevent the Spurs from forcing a 1-1 tie. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 29 points.
Brunson highlighted the inefficiency of the team's shooting performance, noting he scored 20 points on 7-of-25 shooting. He stated that the team needs to correct these mistakes before the series shifts back to Madison Square Garden on Monday at 8:30 pm. "You can't be comfortable, you can't be satisfied with anything," Brunson said. "It's just how it has to be. You've just got to continue to push forward."
Karl-Anthony Towns reflected on the team's reliance on experience and execution to navigate the late-game pressure. Towns acknowledged that while the team executed when necessary, they did not perform to their desired standards. He indicated that the group will return to the gym to address the errors made during the narrow victory.
Brunson predicted that the Spurs will elevate their level of play for the home game, requiring the Knicks to be prepared for a full 48 minutes of intense competition. He stressed the importance of the team playing together and supporting each other regardless of individual performance fluctuations. This victory marks the first time in franchise history that the Knicks have held a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals.
