The contest, which saw the Knicks outlast the hosts, was secured in the final quarter after the 76ers suffered a significant offensive downturn while playing without their injured centre, Joel Embiid.
The victory for New York was defined by a stark contrast in shooting efficiency during the fourth quarter. The 76ers, who had held a narrow 90-89 advantage entering the final period, shot just 21.1% from the field and managed only 12 points in the final 12 minutes. This collapse included a dismal display from key contributors, with Paul George missing all five of his fourth-quarter shots and Tyrese Maxey committing six turnovers alongside an uncharacteristic poor shooting performance.
Conversely, the San Antonio Spurs delivered a dominant 133-95 performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves to level their series at 1-1. San Antonio responded to their Game 1 loss with a balanced offensive effort and stifling defence, recording shooting splits of 50% from the field, 41% from three-point range, and 82% from the free-throw line. Victor Wembanyama contributed 19 points on 15 shots in 25 minutes, leading a balanced attack where eight players scored at least nine points.
The intensity of the Knicks' victory was highlighted by 25 lead changes, marking the highest number of shifts in a playoff game since 2015. Jalen Brunson delivered a clutch performance down the stretch, hitting a pivotal jumper with over five minutes remaining to put New York ahead 101-99. This moment proved decisive as the Knicks outmuscled the Sixers in the final frame, capitalising on Philadelphia's 18 turnovers.
The Spurs' dominance was equally emphatic, with the team leading by 49 points at one stage before the Minnesota Timberwolves managed a comeback. The victory showcased San Antonio's depth and defensive capabilities, with no player required to play more than 26 minutes. This result leaves the Timberwolves in a five-game series with home-court advantage despite their defeat on the road.
