Klopp waits for City appeal, rules out seeking titles

The former Liverpool manager says he has no view on possible sanctions and will let the legal process run its course.

Jürgen Klopp has declined to comment on an independent commission’s finding that Manchester City breached Premier League financial rules, saying his respect for Pep Guardiola and City’s football is too great.

City deny the charges and plan to appeal. The findings and any possible sanctions remain unresolved while the legal process continues.

Speaking on Wednesday ahead of Germany’s Nations League match against Serbia, Klopp said an earlier joke about attending a parade if titles were awarded retrospectively no longer reflected how he felt.

He said he was not preparing to claim Premier League titles and had no view on what sanctions City should face. Klopp added that he had not studied the case closely and would wait to see how it developed.

Liverpool finished one point behind City in the 2019 and 2022 Premier League seasons. Klopp said he was content with what his team had achieved on the pitch.
