Karpathios named Texas League Player of the Week after dominant Missions series
The San Antonio outfielder went 14-for-22 with 13 RBIs as the Missions split their six-game series with the Midland RockHounds.
San Antonio Missions outfielder Braedon Karpathios has been named Texas League Player of the Week after a standout six-game series against the Midland RockHounds.
Karpathios went 14-for-22, or .636, with 13 RBIs, three doubles and two home runs. The Missions split the series 3-3 after entering the homestand at 27-36, while Midland was 31-32.
He opened the series with a grand slam in San Antonio’s 7-1 win, then collected five hits, including a solo home run, in a 13-5 victory the following night.
San Antonio later secured an 8-7 comeback win, but lost the final two games 10-2 and 5-1. The series followed a run in which the Missions had lost eight of their previous nine road games.
Karpathios has an eight-game hitting streak and has recorded multiple hits in seven consecutive games. According to the Yahoo Sports report, he leads the Missions with 73 RBIs and 17 home runs.
