Kane secures second European Golden Shoe ahead of Super Cup final

Harry Kane is set to receive the European Golden Shoe award for the 2025/26 season at the FC Bayern Museum on 19 August. The ceremony, jointly hosted by the Bundesliga, FC Bayern Munich, and Kicker magazine, will take place shortly before the German Super Cup final against Borussia Dortmund. The accolade, presented by the Association of European Sports Media (ESM), recognises the highest goalscorer across European league competitions.

Kane secured the prize for the second consecutive time, having scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga during the 2025/26 season. Under the ESM’s scoring system, which multiplies goals in top-five leagues by two, his tally equated to 72 points. This follows his initial victory in the 2023/24 season, marking a sustained period of elite performance in the German top flight.

The ranking for the 2025/26 season saw Manchester City’s Erling Haaland finish second, while Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé placed third. Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav also featured in the top ten, finishing ninth with 19 goals, which calculated to 38 points under the multiplier rules. The points system awards double value for goals in the top five leagues, 1.5 times for leagues ranked sixth to 22nd, and face value for other top-flight competitions.

Club and league officials have highlighted Kane’s impact on the competition. Bundesliga managing director Marc Lenz described the win as an “extraordinary achievement” that underscores Kane’s consistency at a world-class level. Lenz noted that Kane has been shaping the Bundesliga and international football for years, expressing delight at honouring the award alongside the club and media partners.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer placed Kane in the company of club legends, citing Gerd Müller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as benchmarks for his standing. Hainer praised the striker for leading by example with character and a sense of togetherness. Historically, only Müller and Robert Lewandowski have won the award twice while playing for Bayern, while Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo remain the only players to have won it more than twice.
