K League 2 Round 13 Preview: Form and Frustration Define Weekend Fixtures
As the K League 1 pauses, Round 13 of the K League 2 presents a critical juncture for clubs navigating divergent seasonal trajectories, from Hwaseong’s unbeaten run to Jeonnam’s managerial transition.

With the K League 1 on a scheduled break, attention shifts to a busy three-day weekend in the second tier. Round 13 of the 2026 K League 2 season features three distinct narratives: a winless side seeking a breakthrough, a resurgent club aiming to consolidate top-three status, and a new managerial era beginning to take shape.
Chungbuk Cheongju continue their search for a first victory of the campaign against Hwaseong FC, a side currently in strong form. Cheongju have drawn seven consecutive league matches, remaining without a win after 12 games but also losing only twice. Their record highlights a team that is difficult to defeat but struggles to close out results, a vulnerability exposed in Round 12 when they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Jeonnam Dragons.
Hwaseong FC, in their second year under head coach Cha Du-ri, enter the fixture unbeaten in six games, comprising four wins and two draws. Their identity is built on compact defensive organisation and quick transitions, with Leonard Plana and Kim Byung-oh leading the attack. They strengthened their momentum in Round 12 by defeating league leaders Busan, and they hold a historical advantage over Cheongju from last season, having won two of three meetings.
Suwon FC travel to face Gyeongnam with the objective of maintaining their upward trajectory. Following a 3-1 victory over Chungnam Asan in Round 12, Suwon moved to third in the table, extending their unbeaten run to four matches. This resurgence marks a recovery from a dip in April, where they slipped from the top three after an initial four-win start. Their recent efficiency in front of goal, highlighted by an eight-on-target performance against Chungnam Asan, suggests a tactical adjustment that opponents are yet to fully neutralise.
Jeonnam Dragons host bottom-side Gimhae FC, looking for their first win under new head coach Lim Kwan-sik. The new manager has overseen two draws so far, but the side showed character in Round 12 by fighting back from two goals down. Central to that performance was striker Ha Nam, who returned to scoring form by netting twice against Cheongju. After a period of injury and poor form last season, Ha Nam’s recent resurgence, which earned him Round MVP honours, provides a significant boost for Jeonnam’s playoff hopes.
Gyeongnam, meanwhile, seek to bounce back from a 1-1 draw with Seongnam, where they conceded immediately after a dramatic stoppage-time goal. The fixture against Suwon presents a test of resilience for the home side, while Jeonnam must convert their improved stability into points against the division’s lowest-ranked club.
The weekend’s schedule sees Jeonnam Dragons host Gimhae FC at 16:30, followed by Chungbuk Cheongju facing Hwaseong FC at 19:00.
