Johnson retains undisputed bantamweight status in Orlando main event
Cherneka Johnson defends her four-belt status against Dina Thorslund at the Caribe Royale Orlando, headlining a card that also featured Desley Robinson.
Australian boxer Cherneka Johnson has defended her undisputed bantamweight titles in a 10-round main event against Dina Thorslund. The bout took place on Saturday night at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida, serving as the headline attraction for the MVPW-05 fight card.
Johnson, recognised as Australia’s first undisputed champion of boxing’s four-belt era, entered the ring with a record of 19 wins and two losses, including eight knockouts. She secured her undisputed status with a ninth-round TKO victory over Shurretta Metcalf in July 2025, following a previous defence against Amanda Galle in December.
Her opponent, Dina Thorslund, brought an undefeated record of 24 wins and nine knockouts to the event. A former WBO super bantamweight champion and former unified bantamweight titleholder, Thorslund had vacated her previous titles in June 2025 due to pregnancy. She returned to the ring in January, defeating Almudena Alvarez to claim the WBC interim featherweight title.
The event also featured a co-featured bout between unified WBO and IBF middleweight champion Desley Robinson and Tamm Thibeault. The main card, broadcast on ESPN, included additional contests such as a super flyweight match between Shurretta Metcalf and Amanda Galle, and a bantamweight bout between Krystal Rosado and Alondra Hernandez.
Preliminary bouts began at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+, featuring matchups including Jan Paul Rivera against Ruben Garcia and Dainier Pero against Aleem Whitfield. The main card commenced at 10 p.m. ET, with ring walks for the main event expected around 11:30 p.m. ET.
