JetZero secures $175 million Series B to fund Z4 all-wing aircraft development
The aerospace startup has broken ground on a new manufacturing campus in North Carolina and attracted strategic support from major carriers, aiming to deliver a 250-seat aircraft with significantly improved fuel efficiency.
JetZero has raised approximately $175 million in Series B financing, led by B Capital, to accelerate the development of its Z4 all-wing commercial aircraft program. The investment round includes options for future orders of up to 200 airplanes, providing the company with capital to advance its design and manufacturing capabilities.
The funding supports the company’s recent milestone of breaking ground on its first manufacturing and final assembly campus in Greensboro, North Carolina. JetZero is also establishing a satellite office at the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University to bolster its engineering and testing operations. The company noted that potential financing support is being sought to further develop the advanced aerospace campus.
Strategic interest in the Z4 program has been voiced by Japan Airlines, which announced its support and interest in the aircraft. The Z4 is designed as a low-drag, lightweight, all-wing configuration with a 250-seat capacity and international range. According to JetZero, the design promises up to 50% better fuel performance than current commercial jets, with specific routes such as connecting Europe and Asia from Bahrain cited as key applications.
Alaska Star Ventures is also an investor in the company, with its participation including options for future airplane orders. The investment brings seasoned leadership to the firm, with defense industry veterans and experienced technology CEOs joining the board of directors as the company advances toward the first flight of its all-wing demonstrator.
JetZero’s operations are split between its campus in Long Beach, California, where half of the team is based, and remote locations near suppliers and partners. The company remains focused on refining the aerodynamic efficiency of the Z4, distinguishing its flying wing architecture from conventional tube-and-wing designs, while navigating the complexities of bringing a new commercial aircraft to market.
