Jets secure Breece Hall with three-year pact, avoiding franchise tag for 2026

The New York Jets have formalised a three-year, $45.75 million contract with running back Breece Hall, securing his services for the 2026 season and beyond. This agreement resolves the uncertainty that arose when the club applied the franchise tag to the player, a mechanism that would have guaranteed Hall $14.293 million for a single 2026 campaign.

According to reporting from Yahoo Sports, the average annual value of this new arrangement places it behind only Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey among all running backs in the league. The deal effectively allows the Jets to bypass the annual renewal process associated with the tag, providing greater stability for the franchise's offensive core.

Hall's performance in the previous season underpinned the value of the negotiation, as he recorded 243 carries for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns. However, the data also highlighted a reduction in his role as a pass-catcher, with Hall securing only 36 receptions, a notable decrease compared to the prior two years.

This contract marks a significant trend in the current negotiation landscape, representing the third consecutive year that all three players initially tagged by their respective teams have secured multi-year extensions. While Hall has finalised his pact, tagged wide receiver George Pickens and tight end Kyle Pitts remain in talks, with both players until July 15 to negotiate their own long-term agreements.
