New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn has left the team’s season-opening kicker position unresolved, with Blake Grupe and Jason Sanders still under consideration for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Glenn said on Tuesday that both players are capable and that the Jets will make the decision when it is required. He did not identify a preferred candidate or say when the choice would be announced.
Grupe was claimed off waivers last week, prompting the Jets to release Sanders from their active roster. Sanders subsequently returned to the practice squad.
The kicker is the only key lineup position still unsettled for the Jets ahead of the opener, according to Yahoo Sports. The decision comes as Glenn prepares for his second season as head coach after a disappointing first campaign.
