Israeli army kills Palestinian man, raids homes in occupied West Bank
Military operations in northern occupied territory intensify amid settler violence and UN condemnation

Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian man during a targeted operation in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The ministry in Ramallah identified the deceased as 34-year-old Nour al-Din Kamal Hassan Fayyad, stating he was killed by occupation forces’ fire within the camp.

The Israeli military maintained that troops opened fire after Fayyad attempted to infiltrate the Jenin camp area, which it described as a prohibited zone for civilians while soldiers were conducting operations there. This incident occurs against a backdrop of sustained military activity in the northern occupied territory, where UNRWA reports that operations targeting Jenin and Tulkarem camps have displaced approximately 40,000 Palestinians since January.

In separate security actions on Saturday, Israeli soldiers conducted arrests and raids across multiple locations. Wafa news agency reported that troops arrested a young Palestinian man after assaulting him in the Shu’fat refugee camp, northeast of Jerusalem, and detained another individual in the village of Zawata, west of Nablus. Forces also stormed the cities of Tubas and Qalqilya, as well as the towns of Tammun and Zaatara, east of Bethlehem, and raided the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah.

Tensions were further exacerbated by incidents of settler violence. Israeli settlers set fire to an agricultural room and wrote racist slogans in the town of Turmus Aya, northeast of Ramallah. Additionally, a Palestinian man was assaulted by settlers in the town of Sinjil.

A senior United Nations official has condemned recent acts of violence, specifically an arson attack on a mosque and several vehicles in the village of Jibiya. Ramiz Alakbarov, the deputy special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, stated that masked individuals set fire to the site and drew Hebrew graffiti. Alakbarov described attacks against religious sites and civilian property as unacceptable, noting they undermine stability and human dignity. He called for an immediate and transparent investigation and for all perpetrators to be held accountable, emphasising that such attacks must cease.
