Video footage captures moment of attack at Muwaffaq Salti Airbase as US-Iran conflict escalates

A video recording has captured the moment an Iranian missile struck Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Airbase, resulting in the deaths of two US service members. The footage, released alongside reports of the incident, documents the immediate impact of the strike at the facility located in Jordan.

The attack has precipitated a rapid escalation in hostilities between the United States and Iran. In direct retaliation for the strike on the Jordanian airbase, the United States has conducted eight consecutive nights of airstrikes against Iranian targets. US Central Command confirmed that these overnight operations targeted units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as military coastal surveillance systems, air defence facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites.

Iran has responded with reciprocal military actions. According to reports from the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency, the Iranian army executed large-scale attacks using kamikaze drones against US military installations in Kuwait. The targets included the US military depot at Camp Udairi and Ali Al Salem Air Base.

The intensity of the exchange has effectively ended diplomatic efforts that were initiated between Washington and Tehran earlier in the year. The conflict has also resulted in a significant rise in US military casualties, with the total death toll in the broader conflict now standing at 16. This figure includes the two service members killed in Jordan, a Navy pilot declared dead after going missing earlier in the month, and other personnel lost in the ongoing engagements.

While the video specifically highlights the missile strike in Jordan, broader context regarding the incident notes that the two service members were killed while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. One additional member of the unit was reported missing in the immediate aftermath of the engagement.
