INDYCAR Confirms Early 2027 Calendar with Barber and Road Course Dates
The sanctioning body has finalised the opening round of the 2027 season, resolving speculation around the Barber Motorsports Park and Indianapolis road course slots, though specific start times remain pending.
INDYCAR has officially announced the first eight races of the 2027 NTT INDYCAR Series schedule, confirming the opening rounds of the upcoming season. The announcement resolves lingering questions regarding the placement of the Barber Motorsports Park event and the Indianapolis road course race, both of which had been subjects of industry speculation ahead of the release.
The confirmed dates for the opening segment of the season begin in St. Petersburg on 7 March, followed by Phoenix on 13 March and Arlington on 21 March. The Barber Motorsports Park round is scheduled for 4 April, positioning the event between the Arlington and Long Beach races. Long Beach itself will take place on 18 April.
Mid-season scheduling sees the Indianapolis road course race held on 15 May. This maintains the event’s traditional slot on the Saturday preceding Indy 500 practice and qualification week. The main Indianapolis event follows on 30 May, with the Detroit race closing out the announced portion of the schedule on 6 June.
Broadcast arrangements for the confirmed races have been secured with FOX, which will carry all eight announced events. The broadcaster’s involvement ensures consistent coverage for the opening half of the season, although specific race start times were not included in the initial release.
While the dates for St. Petersburg, Phoenix, Arlington, Long Beach, Indianapolis, and Detroit were previously known, the confirmation of the Barber and road course slots completes the early calendar framework. The full 2027 schedule beyond these eight races has not yet been released, leaving the remainder of the season to be determined in subsequent announcements.
