More than 50,000 tickets have been sold in just over two weeks for India’s first tour of New Zealand in six years, according to New Zealand Cricket.

The tour is scheduled to include five T20Is, five ODIs and two Test matches. Public sales followed a two-week pre-sale period for Cricket Nation members, Sky customers and ANZ customers.

New Zealand Cricket said several matches were on track to sell out. The second T20I in Christchurch was reported to be 75 per cent sold.

Demand has also prompted Eden Park to open its sixth seating tier for the fourth T20I, scheduled for Friday, 30 October. New Zealand Cricket said the upper level was being made available for the first time since India’s 2019 tour of New Zealand.

The organisation’s head of marketing, Tim Ellis, said the response reflected growing interest in the tour. New Zealand Cricket is also planning events and fan activities around the series.
