Week 1 fantasy football results offer signals, but few certainties
CBS Sports identifies early Week 2 waiver-wire and trade candidates while warning managers against making major decisions on one game.

CBS Sports’ review of Week 1 fantasy football separates potentially meaningful usage trends from results that may prompt an overreaction. The analysis cautions managers against selling disappointing players cheaply, noting that one game provides an unreliable basis for major decisions.
Caleb Williams led all players in Week 1 fantasy points and scored two rushing touchdowns. CBS Sports projects sustained top-tier potential for the Chicago Bears quarterback, while acknowledging that future production remains a projection rather than a certainty.
Carnell Tate is highlighted as an early waiver-wire target despite recording only 37 receiving yards. He held an 86 per cent snap share, a 21.4 per cent target share and a 41 per cent air-yardage share. Devaughn Vele also drew attention after producing seven receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown on nine targets.
Bucky Irving scored 20.3 PPR points on a 62 per cent snap rate, including two touches inside the 10-yard line and seven receptions from seven targets. CBS Sports identifies him as a potential trade target, while noting that his projected weekly running-back value is not guaranteed.
Josh Downs’ two receptions for 37 yards came with an 89 per cent snap share, suggesting to CBS Sports that increased volume could follow. Waiver availability will vary by league, and the early-season role remains provisional.
Dalton Kincaid recorded 130 yards on five catches with a 77 per cent snap rate, while Dallas Goedert caught four passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Both are presented as possible weekly starters, although the assessments are based on their opening-game performances.
