India and England Set for ODI Series Amid Squad Shifts and Broadcast Logistics
Senior Indian players return to the side as England look to extend their white-ball dominance in the 50-over format.
India and England are preparing to contest a three-match One Day International (ODI) series in England, scheduled from July 14 to 19, 2026. The fixture follows a five-match T20I leg in which England secured a 4-0 clean sweep, effectively ending India’s 1,605-day reign as the No. 1 ranked T20I side. The opening match is set to take place at Edgbaston on July 14.
India’s ODI squad, captained by Shubman Gill, has been bolstered by the return of senior players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain, with KL Rahul also included in the lineup. However, the squad excludes Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy due to injuries, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sanju Samson, who were selected for the preceding T20Is, are not part of the ODI group.
England, led by captain Harry Brook, aim to replicate their recent T20I success in the 50-over format. The English side features experienced campaigners including Jos Buttler, Joe Root, Jofra Archer, and Adil Rashid. The pace bowling unit has been strengthened by the return of Gus Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood, while new call-ups James Coles and Josh Tongue make their ODI debuts.
For Indian coach Gautam Gambhir, this series presents an opportunity to formulate a stable side ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. England’s strategy relies on translating their aggressive batting style from the shorter format into the longer game. The series offers India a chance to reverse their fortunes after the T20I defeat.
Broadcast arrangements have been confirmed across multiple territories. In India, matches will be televised on Sony Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar. Viewers in the UK and Ireland can access the series via Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Go, and NOW. Pakistan will rely on Tapmad for streaming, with no confirmed TV telecast. In the US and Canada, Willow TV will provide both TV and streaming coverage.
