NHL futures odds, predictions: Hurricanes meet Golden Knights in 2026 Stanley Cup Final
Carolina enters with dominant 12-1 record as Vegas relies on championship continuity

The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights are confirmed as the finalists for the 2026 Stanley Cup, with Game 1 scheduled to begin on Tuesday at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The series marks the third appearance in franchise history for Carolina, their first since lifting the trophy in 2006, while representing the third Finals berth for Vegas in their nine-season existence.

Carolina arrives in the final with a 12-1 playoff record, the fewest losses by any team since all four rounds became best-of-seven series in 1987. The Hurricanes swept the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers in the opening rounds before defeating the Montreal Canadiens in five games during the Eastern Conference Final. Their path has been defined by offensive consistency from Taylor Hall, Jackson Blake, and Logan Stankoven, alongside goaltender Frederik Andersen, who leads the NHL in postseason goals-against average at 1.41 and has recorded three shutouts.

Vegas advanced through a more grueling route, defeating the Utah Mammoth and Anaheim Ducks in six games each before sweeping the Presidents' Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Final. The Golden Knights have shown significant resilience under head coach John Tortorella, winning 11 of their last 13 games since taking over in late March. The roster features 11 players from the 2023 championship team, including Pavel Dorofeyev, Brett Howden, and Ivan Barbashev, providing a core of established winners.

Head coach Rod Brind'Amour is four victories away from becoming the seventh person in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup as both a player and head coach with the same franchise. Brind'Amour, who captained Carolina to their 2006 title, joins an elite group that includes Lester Patrick, Frank Boucher, and Toe Blake, the last to achieve the feat in 1956.

While betting markets currently favour Carolina with odds in the -150 to -155 range, SportsLine analyst Scott Erskine predicts a Golden Knights victory in six games. Erskine cites Vegas's superior experience, noting that 11 current Golden Knights were on their 2023 championship team, compared to only three members of the Hurricanes' roster with prior Finals appearances. The two teams met twice during the 2025-26 regular season, with Vegas winning both encounters by scores of 4-1 and 6-3.
