HP has introduced the OmniBook 5, a laptop starting at US$699 that combines an OLED touchscreen with a hinge that opens 180 degrees. The 2.5K display is touch-enabled.

The base model has 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. HP says configurations will be available with up to an Intel Core 7 processor and an integrated neural processing unit.

HP claims up to 42 hours of battery life, based on local video playback tests. The figure is tied to that test scenario; the source says more demanding software use can drain the battery faster.

The laptop is 11.77mm thick and weighs just over 2.5 pounds. Its listed features include two USB-C ports, an FHD infrared camera and two microphones.

HP says the OmniBook 5 will be available this month, but has not provided a specific on-sale date. The source also reports four colour options.
