Houthis allege 54 Saudi air raids across Yemen after coalition response pledge
The claims follow Houthi missile and drone attacks that the Saudi-led coalition said injured 13 civilians in three Saudi cities.
The Houthis have accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out 54 air raids across five Yemeni governorates, in an escalation following missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities.
Houthi-aligned media reported that three civilians, including two children, were killed and at least two others injured in Taiz province. The group also said air strikes hit a government complex in Khadir district.
The alleged raids were reported in Lahj, Taiz, al-Jawf, Marib and Hajjah. Saudi Arabia has not publicly commented on the claims, and the reported number of strikes and casualties could not be independently verified, according to Al Jazeera.
The Saudi-led coalition, which backs Yemen’s internationally recognised government, said Houthi attacks on Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif caused minor to moderate injuries to 13 civilians. It also reported damage to seven homes and two vehicles.
The coalition pledged to respond “responsibly and firmly”, while the Houthis said their attacks targeted military infrastructure at King Khalid airbase in retaliation for Saudi air raids.
The exchanges follow renewed fighting and reported Houthi territorial advances after a United Nations-brokered ceasefire halted large-scale violence in 2022. Competing claims about battlefield developments remain unverified.
