The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9–3 in Game 3 on Wednesday, avoiding an American League Division Series sweep. Cleveland had scored three runs across the first two games.

The Guardians recorded 11 hits, including two two-out triples. Jo Adell’s triple in the third inning put Cleveland ahead 4–1, while José Ramírez’s eighth-inning hit drove in two runs to extend the lead to 7–3.

Chicago had taken a 1–0 lead in the first, but managed only two hits in 11 opportunities with runners in scoring position. The White Sox struck out 19 times.

The win keeps the best-of-five series going after Chicago’s 4–3 victory in Game 2. Game 4 was scheduled for Thursday; the supplied report gives no result.
