The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9–3 in Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Wednesday, keeping their season alive and forcing a fourth game scheduled for Thursday.

Chicago had won the first two games and entered the matchup one win from a sweep. Cleveland had scored three runs across those games, but produced an early lead in Game 3.

A four-run third inning put the Guardians ahead 4–1. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jo Adell hit a triple down the right-field line, clearing the bases. The report said it was his second triple in as many games.

Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt described the stakes as “win or go home”. The team had gone 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position over the first two games, according to Yahoo Sports.

The win extends the series to Game 4, with Cleveland’s elimination deferred for at least one more day.
