The Cleveland Guardians are scheduled to host the Chicago White Sox in Game 1 of the American League Division Series at Progressive Field on Saturday, 3 October. CBS Sports reports first pitch is set for 1 p.m. ET.

The best-of-five series opens with Cleveland’s Parker Messick projected to start against Chicago’s Hagen Smith. The preview lists both as left-handers.

Chicago reached the division series after sweeping Houston in the wild-card round, according to CBS Sports. Cleveland had a bye.

The outlet’s preview lists Cleveland as a -149 betting favourite and the total at seven runs. Those figures are betting-market snapshots reported by CBS Sports.

CBS Sports also reports that SportsLine’s model projects 8.8 combined runs and gives the over a 61 per cent chance. The projection is attributed to the model and does not establish the game’s eventual result.
