Golden Knights Advance to Western Conference Final After Defeating Ducks

The Vegas Golden Knights have advanced to the Western Conference final after defeating the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 in Game 6 of the second-round series. The victory secured the series 4-2 for Vegas, who will now face the top-seeded Colorado Avalanche in the next round. The series-clinching match took place in Anaheim, California, on a Thursday in May.

Mitch Marner scored an inventive goal just 62 seconds into the match, sliding the puck between his own legs to open the scoring. The goal was the first shot of the night, following a long-distance pass from William Karlsson, who received the puck from Shea Theodore. Marner forced Ducks defender Jackson LaCombe to turn his back to the goal, then tapped the puck left to beat goalie Lukas Dostal on the glove side.

Vegas dominated the first period, netting three of their five goals. Brett Howden scored a short-handed goal assisted by Marner 7 minutes and 28 seconds into the game. Shea Theodore added a power-play goal with 2 minutes and 41 seconds remaining in the first period. The Golden Knights were outshot 32-21 overall, including 28-12 in the final two periods.

Anaheim managed only one goal, scored by Mikael Granlund on a power play 12 minutes and 46 seconds into the second period. Pavel Dorofeyev scored the final two goals of the game in the third period to seal the victory. Ducks goaltender Carter Hart made 31 saves for the loss.

The top-seeded Golden Knights will face the top-seeded Colorado Avalanche in Game 1 of the Western Conference final. The opening match is scheduled for Wednesday in Denver.
